Childcare centre flood recovery, Crestmead
Emergency flood repairs at a Crestmead early learning centre: crews on site within 4 hours over Christmas, and the centre reopened for term.
Disaster recovery requires a partner who can move fast without sacrificing precision or compliance. Following an unexpected flood event over the Christmas break, an early learning centre in Logan faced extensive water damage that threatened its upcoming term opening.
Fixed immediately mobilised a large-scale commercial trade workforce to the site within 4 hours of the initial call to secure the environment and begin the cleanup. The scope of works required a rapid, systematic strip-out: removing approximately 188 m² of water-damaged sheet vinyl flooring, dedicated children’s amenities flooring, contaminated joinery, and the bottom run of plasterboard across the entire centre.
Operating within strict physical and regulatory constraints, our team went above and beyond standard remediation. We supplied dedicated fire engineering to upgrade affected partitions to 16 mm Fyrecheck plasterboard and successfully secured a structural clearance certificate to guarantee the building’s long-term safety. From there, our carpentry, plumbing, electrical and cabinetry teams worked concurrently to reinstate the facility to a premium, brand-new condition. This included installing high-performance Polyflor vinyl, custom GSEL-spec staff amenities cabinetry, compliant nappy change stations, and art preparation spaces.
Despite the massive scale of the damage and the challenging holiday timing, the entire reconstruction phase took just 2.5 weeks. It was a monumental logistical puzzle, but true to our reputation, it was handled smoothly, professionally, and without fuss.
