Mercure Brisbane laneway, Chelsea Lane
A taxi and bus drop-off laneway at the Mercure Brisbane turned into Chelsea Lane, an all-weather alfresco function space for up to 120 people, in a four-week turnaround.
Chelsea Lane at the Mercure Brisbane opened in late 2016. Fixed was engaged to mastermind the transformation of what was once a laneway for taxi and bus drop-offs into a stylish, urban alfresco space for functions, parties and exhibitions.
The distinctive signage, featuring hand-rusted iron and an inset of over 150 light bulbs, was custom-made by Fixed. The client turned to Fixed to design a wet-weather solution, resulting in the installation of a Vergola system to create an all-weather venue.
Demonstrating our ability to develop technical and practical solutions, we also designed a vandal-resistant automatic gate system, wirelessly controlled to avoid the use of unsightly cables. The whole project was delivered outdoors, under heavy noise constraints, in a four-week turnaround.
